Sonya's Story

Life I am 32 years old and have a beautiful angel, her name is Shaylyn Marie McCormic, she just turned 10 years old on December 3, 2006. I am currently single and living in Palm Springs, just south of West Palm Beach. I am living in two bedroom and two bath townhome. I have been living here now two years. I have two bengal cats (and no not those huge cats, these cats are what they call part oscelot and bengal) actually fall in the same catagory of the bengal cat family. Their names are "Louie" and "Mickey", both of them will be three years old this August and both are brothers. I also have two domesticated black and white cats, one male, his name is "Spike" and one female, her name is "Freaky" (there is a story to this name). Their mother, her name was "Diamond" aka "Mommy" was killed in my parking lot by a vehicle exceeding the speed limit where I live back in January of this year, which was very, very, very hard to deal with especially my daughter who was close to her as well, she was my first kitten when I met my boyfriend at the time. The sad part about all of it was that Thursday I had taken a vacation day, because it was half day at school for my daughter. I woke up that morning anticipating the Diamond would be waiting for me to feed her that morning, and she was no where to be found. I found a Palm Springs Police business card and on the back it said that if I owned a black and white cat that she was hit & killed by a vehicle and that I could Pick her up at the animal rescue league. I spent my vacation day finding out that my female cat was hit and killed by a vehicle, picked her body up from the Animal Care & Control, had her cremated, ...Expand for more
and picked her ashes up from the rescue league. All of this in what was suppose to be a vacation day for my daughter and I. I always wondered what if I did this or could have done that, but I didn't and now everynight I go outside, my daughter and I, we look up into the sky, and my duaghter points to the brightest star and says mommy, there's Diamond sparkling in the sky and looking down at us. Shaylyn still every now and again will think about her and start crying "why did it have to be Diamond" to get hit and killed. The only thing I can say to her is that atleast she was close to home and that she didn't suffer. Diamond is now resting in a better place. I take everyday with my daughter and my cats and enjoy what time I have with them because you never know what happens the next day. I love my little family very much, and what little time I do have I spend it with them as well as take my daughter to modeling class once a week at John Robert Powers, Inc. and also dance which is once a week. I love going to the beach, working out at the gym, bike riding, boating, and going fishing. I hope to some day catch up to friends that I went to school with and see what all has been going on in their life. Please call me at 561-201-0695, would love to hear from everyone and do alot of catching up. Workplace I'm currently working for a marine company as a secretary and office manager and also doing boat sales. I work six days a week, which leaves me with little to no time for me. I enjoy doing this job because I'm on the intracoastal, and the view here everyday is awesome. (Except on the days when it is raining) Other than that the work life is great!!
