Stan's Story
Workplace
I earned a BBA at Western Michigan University, I spent twenty years in sales and marketing. I raised my family in Louisville and went to the University of Louisville and received my MBA in 1990 and began working in the Health Care and Non Profit sectors. I was a vice president for Almost Family and was the corporate spokesperson and vice president of Government Relations. Alzheimer's Disease was my charity of choice for nearly twenty years. I was on the National Board of Directors for the Alzheimer's Association and have served on local boards in Kentucky and California. I was the CEO for the National Kidney Foundation of Kentucky and the United Ostomy Association located in Irvine, California. I remarried in 2002 to a charming woman, Sara, and went back to college to get my teaching credentials for High School for California. I will complete my last phase of student teaching in the fall of 2003 and will be single subject certified in Business.
Update April 2010 I have been retired for about one year. My wife...Expand for more
, Sara and I have been married for eight years and she will retire this year after being a special ed teacher for 40 years. I spent the last six years of my career teaching at a inner city junior high. We recently built a home in a retirement community in Bakersfield, Ca. We are in good health and look forward to traveling in our retirement years. My two daughters are married and building their careers. Sonia the eldest has three children and teaches fifth grade at a small catholic school in Vermont. My youngest daughter, Stephanie is completing her post doctoral work at UC San Francisco. She received her Phd in Immunology two years ago from UC Berkeley. I feel very blessed that I am able to retire in good health and all of my family enjoying the challenges of where they are in their life. I hope that all of my school friends have had good luck during their careers and with their families. Life is what we make of it, but it seems like some really good people have really been given some challenges to overcome. Stan
