Stan's Story

Life Even before graduation, I had enlisted in the Army. While the experiences were great and the training started my life long career, I soon discovered the Army was not for me. So after 3 yrs I did not re-enlist. I also got married in December 84, and then divorced in December 94. So I guess I got my mistakes in early. In the Army I worked on helicopters, the same as channel 4 & 7 now use, Bell 206. I also got my FAA license before I left the Army. I was stationed in South Korea the first year and Seattle WA the second two. Not long after leaving the Army I moved back to Denver and shortly after that started at my only other employer, Mayo Aviation. We were first at Stapleton, and since it shut down have been at Centennial Airport. I have now worked here 17 years. Having moved up from ...Expand for more
line service to Chief Inspector. It still keeps me interested, but I think a change may soon be in order. Can anyone say mid-life crisis? I had three children during my first marriage and still have custody of my son, Shawn, now 11. My older daughters live in Florida, I think. One is 19 and the other 17. I never understood how families could hate each other; I now know how it happens. In 1993 I met my wife, Rebecca, at Mayo. It was one of those cliché "Love at first sight". She is the greatest thing to happen to me, and a wonderful mother to Shawn. We now live south of Elizabeth, CO on 35 acres. We have a wonderful view of Pikes Peak and the mountains and the peace of county life. The yard work never ends however. I would love to hear from anyone who would like to get in touch.
