Stanley's Story

No one much on here anymore, what with Facebook etc. Still came across this site again & now i find myself typing a bunch of stuff about what I'm doing now. After Coc I went to the University of Alabama & am a huge fan of the most dominant team in the game year in and year out. Then, after quite a few years, I attended Erskine Theological Seminary in SC but didn't finish before being relocated up here in VA. Still haven't re-enrolled up here. Still serving as an Officer in the Army, now stationed between Fort Belvior & the Pentagon. I have a love hate relationship w/Northern VA, mostly hate but I plan to be here another 13 years. I retire from the Army in just over two years but then I'll probably hang on for 10 more years & retire again as a DA Civilian. I already have 10 years service there too,s o that's ten more years and I'll have two full retirements & over 40 years service to our country as a soldier and a civilian. Spent 2012 in Afghanistan between Baghram, Kandahar & Kabul. Then it was back to DC. Ugh! Ready yo get back the Charleston, SC or Augusta,GA. Working on a Seminary Degree so I can teach in my post government career. I have three children. Sarah, 21 (born on Fathers Day), Eliza, 16, (my special love) & Seth, my son who plays football & soccer for his ...Expand for more
school & is a tremendous baseball player (my pride & joy and best buddy). I have three super step-children, Steven (24) that can do anything with an engine of any kind; Christina, who Dances Professionally on a Cruise Liner in the Mediterranean; and Cristian who is on a track scholarship in his freshman year of college. Sadly, the marriage that brought my step-children & wonderful in-laws in to my life...is crumbling & we don't even live in the same state. All in all though, I make a good living & have a honorable profession which I've enjoyed for over 29 years. I'm proud of my time in Afghanistan except for the sadness of knowing that almost every day we watched a plane leave w/a flag-draped coffin, reminding me how blessed we are to live in an imperfect country, it is still the one that more people in the world would love to come to over any other. I didn't know how special my days at Cox were w/my running buddies, Bryant Moore, Mike Roseman, Mark Braun, Steve Hand, Ginny Horton, Mary Lou Meeds & so many others. Throw in those that I've become close to since like Kim Croft, Rita Shelburne, etc.I would love to see any of you if you ever read this. I miss those days often, but, alas we cannot return to 32 years can we? Hope all are well. I'm out there on Facebook too.
