Stanley's Story
I quit this site in confusion. You'll have to Yahoo me. stanleyspain
I have entered the Twilight Zone on this site. Some of you look different than you did 50 years ago. So many of you are chubby green silhouettes.
Let's see -- left East, went to UNC-G back when it was Woman's College. Although English was supposedly my major, Partying was apparently my best subject. After two years, realizing I would have to work if I flunked, I transferred to Limestone College in Gaffney, SC, where I got a BA in English, minor in Journalism.
Went to work for Eastern Airline, of course. Then got married to Chuck Spain in 1967, had my wonderful daughter Chris in 1969, my fabulous son Troop in 1973.
Lived in Tampa FL from 72-75, then came back to Charlotte. Went through my Earth Mother phase. And decided to see if I could write a book.
Rajac, my first novel, was published in 1982 by Macmillan in English, also published in German, Portuguese, Spanish, Finnish, and Swedish (she said proudly.)

riage ended and I began a series of careers, including selling the Ginzu knife at home shows, just like they do on TV! Started a regular job in 1985 and ended up being the senior proofreader for Cadmus Communication.
My daughter got married and made me a grandmother in 1988. She is great. A fabulous granddaughter AND as of 8-4-08, I am the GREAT Grandmother of Anthony. Whoa. That sex thing has consequences!
Married again in 1996 to Ted Cannon. We moved to Oak Island/Southport area and scraped out a living, ran a cab company, had some fun. Ted died in 2006.
Wrote my way through that with The Book of Dovey, self published in 2007.
Now live in Southport with my white dove, Duke, my brown dog, Daisy, my own Karaoke Host, OD, who is disguised as an old friend. Also am guardian to a 17 year smart, funny kid with a smart mouth named James.
Am writing book #3, singing old songs, laughing a lot and having as much fun as I can.
Hope my old friends are enjoying their lives, too!
