Stephanie's Story

Life After high school, moved to LA to attend USC for a degree in music (which I think shocked people since everyone seemed to think I'd become a scientist or something. Seriously, I'm not into science and math - never was!). After that, went to grad school for many years and combined that with lots of time as your typical "working musician", playing gigs and looking for any kind of work to pay the bills. I'm now living in San Diego with a wonderful husband (married in 2002) and recently found a full-time, tenure track position as a professor of music technology at San Diego City College where I teach courses on recording arts and digital music technology. No kids - just a really fat cat that's the size of a small child. And - bought my first home a few years ago. N...Expand for more
o small feat given the exorbitant costs of real estate in San Diego. It's a good life - I only have to teach 3 days a week, so I still have plenty of time to continue my free-lance professional career as a composer/sound designer. I specialize in music for theatre and have done a lot of regional work here in SoCal. Nothing anyone would have heard of though, unless you're REALLY into theatre! Aside from work, I spend most of my free time training for marathons and am planning to run my first 50 miler VERY slowly in April 07. I also surf very badly but don't care as it's fun. I went vegan a few years ago after a long stint as a vegetarian and am pretty into that! In short, I'm an exercise/health nut with a predilection for punishing my body on weekly 20 mile runs.
