Stephanie's Story
I attended University of Iowa from 1990-1994. I majored in psychology and was a member of Delta Gamma with a lot of other NCHS alums! I lived with Carrie Chamberlin, Ali Harrington, Steph Rizek and Damon Fisch. After graduation, I moved to San Jose, CA where my parents were living (it is about 45 miles south of San Francisco). I got a job as a behavioral specialist working with abused children. The last time I was in the 'Ville was when I came back to be a bridesmaid for Steph Rizek's wedding in 98(?). I went back to school to get my masters in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and eventually became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I currently work as a ...Expand for more
clinician with emotionally disturbed and kids who are on the autism spectrum in a special ed classroom. I got married to John Shafer (a co-worker) in June of 2003. (Thanks to all the Napervillians who were able to attend! ) We had twins (Sophia and Chloe) in Sept. of 2006. I love living in the Bay Area and will never leave! It is very diverse, you can surf and snowboard without much travelling and the weather is amazing. The cost of living is pretty steep and is the only downfall. Karen Parker lives pretty close and we see each other every few months. I am still best friends with Jackie Payne (she is in D.C.) and will be the matron of honor at her wedding June 1st in Nantucket.
