Stephen's Story
Life
I spent 28 years working at Montgomery Ward, the first 12 in the warehouse, the rest as a computer operator on up to group leader. In 1986 everyone at the Meriam Kansas facility was dismissed do to the bankruptcy. I was out of work for almost 2 years and finally found a job at the airport doing computer work. e computer. In 1993 they moved to Atlanta and I did not go, so I was out of a job. Found one at a local insurance agency, Forrest T Jones and worked there almost 5 years, moved on to Computer Sciences still doing computer work. They cut staff in 2000 and I just retired. Now I work on PC's and most of the time I do it for the learning experience, some people feel sorry and actually give me money. I also build web pages for friends, sometime this pays and sometime it don't.
