Stephen's Story
After high school, I attended the College of Engineering at the University of Washington. Took 5 1/2 years to get my Civil Engineering degree due to a 1 1/2 year tour with the US Navy and graduated in 1971. Upon my return to the University in 1969, I settled down and married Barbara Bowen of Ferndale, WA. We just celebrated our 45th Anniversary. I received my Master's Degree in Civil Engineering in 1976 from Oregon State University.

I am continuing to put my talents to work here in Boise, volunteering to serve my neighborhood and the greater Boise community, as well as holding leadership positions in the National Society of Professional Engineers. I have served as Chairman of Idaho Professional Engineers in Government, Chapter and State Presidents of the Idaho Society of Professional Engineers and two years as Delegate to the NSPE national governing body. In 2011, we completed a major remodeling project on our house. We had lived in this house for thirty-four years, and it was overdue for an upgrade. We are currently upgrading the remaining rooms in the house (master bedroom and bath, retreat and den). We are also upgrading the landscaping and building a new deck, patio and most recently upgrading the front porch. I have also begun work on my long awaited model railroad, a model of the Milwaukee Road in Whatcom County.
