Stephen's Story
Steve is from Brooklyn, New York, and attended Mary Queen of Heaven elementary school, Class of 1962, and Nazareth High School, Class of 1966. He graduated "With Honors" from the SUNY Maritime College at Fort Schuyler in 1970 with a Bachelor of Engineering. He also received a Commission as an Ensign in the US Navy and a Federal License as an Engineering Officer in the US Merchant Marine. While at Fort Schuyler he played Varsity Basketball. After graduation, Steve served as an Officer in the US Naval Reserve ( from 1970-1982 ) and on active duty in the US Merchant Marine ( 1970-1971 ).
In 1972 Steve joined the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan. Starting as a design engineer. His career progressed through various assignments in Product Planning, Marketing, Sales, and General Management. His major positions included: Director of Car Product Planning, General Marketing Manager for Ford and Lincoln-Mercury, General Sales Manager for Ford and Lincoln-Mercury, and CEO and Managing Director for Ford of Spain. In 2002 Steve was named President of the Ford Division. In 2005 he was appointed Group Vice-President for Marketing, Sales, and Service. e for all the Company brands ( Ford, Lincoln-Mercury, Volvo, Jaguar, Land-Rover, Mazda, Aston Martin, and Ford Credit ). Steve retired from Ford in 2006. He and his family have lived in most regions of the US as well as Madrid, Spain.
After retirement from Ford, Steve worked as a consultant to Goldman, Sachs with regarding investments in the automobile business. In addition, he and his partner developed plans for a new Ford Dealership in west Phoenix. They sold their interest in the Dealership in 2012.
In 2014, Steve was named "Distinguished Alumnus of the Year" by the SUNY Maritime College Alumni Association.
Steve also served as Board Chairman for the Franciscan Renewal Center in Paradise Valley, Arizona from 2016 through 2022.
Steve is married and has three grown children and four grandchildren. He and his wife, Donna, live in Scottsdale, Arizona, and he is a Member of Whisper Rock GC ( Scottsdale ), Troon CC ( Scottsdale ), Pine Valley GC ( NJ ), and Royal Cinque Ports GC ( England ). Steve is the former Chairman of the PGA Tour's Ford Championship at Doral Florida and the Ford Senior Players Championship in Dearborn, Michigan.
Outside of work, Steve completed three marathons ( Detroit and New York twice ). He has also competed in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and made the Tournament cut in both 2005 and 2006.
