Stephen's Story

In 1981 transferred from Seoul American High School to Meade Senior High School. I went from a couple of hundred students and we all knew each other and our families to a school of thousands who didn't know anyone and half of the school were civilian kid from off post. That last part was the oddest part for me because in Korea almost everyone's parent was in the military and if you got in any trouble it could affect your parents careers. So all of a sudden it seemed like a lot of the civilian kids didn't give a crap about any rules or regulations. I was really bitter initially going to Meade because we had lived in Korea for almost 5 years and if I (my Army dad) had been able to stay there one more year I would have only had to take one class (photography) to graduate. Since I came into the Meade system I had to meet additional state requirements which meant I had to take a lot of classes with 9th and 10th graders so I didn't really hang out with any seniors from my class. I had a full schedule the first semester with no lunch and they were kinder and gave me a lunch period for the second semester. They didn't even want to accept my 3 years of taking Korean as a language because it wasn't a recognized language according to Maryland state educational standards it needed to be either Spanish, French or German. They finally relented after the first quarter and that's why I got a lunch the second semester. The entire year I felt like I w...Expand for more
as ostracized and treated as an outsider because I hadn't been in the school for 3 years. Okay I really did appreciate the fact that we could go right outside of the lunchroom and smoke cigarettes. I was used to being able to smoke at my previous school because we had to go to different classrooms located in single unattached buildings in different locations. Alright guys now I need to let you know that while in the military I suffered numerous head injuries and as a result can't remember years of my memories. I mean a huge chunk like 10+ years and a lot of that was my school years. So if I was an tool or rude to anyone I sincerely apologize. I never meant to be mean or disrespectful towards anyone. On the flip side if we were friends I would appreciate hearing from you. My first wife threw out every picture of my life growing up so I don't have anything I can relate to my growing up and school years. I have been told that I mainly kept to myself which I pretty much do now with all of my four legged kids. I do prefer animals over humans because they never lie to you and appreciate anything you do for them. Please let me know what kind of person I was and if I was a jerk or not. I really hope I was nice. Write me at stephenlovesdogs at gmail dot you know what if you want. I spend more time at home as we all get older. It sucks but I still look in the mirror some days and wonder who the old person looking back at me is. Later 82 grads.
