Stephen's Story
hmmm...well, I live in Portland, Oregon and I work for the state as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. I have been here 4 years.
Before that I lived in San Francisco, CA for 18 years. I received a bachelor in Graphic Design from The Academy of Art College. Later I went on to get a master's degree in Counseling.
I am single but like to date (and I do have a steady but not in love). I am not married because I have never found anyone that I could be attach to without boredom creeping in and also its against the law for gays to marry... at least in this state ...for now.
Did I write "gay"...yes, I am living life as a gay man. I have always been so its no big deal to me. It was never difficult for me to accept it about myself. I wish I had been more sure of myself when I was high school. I think I would have had more fun.
Because of my shyness and inability to socialize very well I did...Expand for more
not participate much in school activities. I always wanted not to be there. I thought most of the kids at London High School were mean and never really liked me (I admit I was a misfit and a bit of a freak). Whenever I tell anyone about my years in high school I describe it as a time when I was "dodging bullets".
My life really began AFTER I graduated from high school...many things happened to me and I started to socialize and discovered that there are nice people that appreciated me (but I had to appreciate myself first).
I went to my 5th, 10th, and 20th high school reunion. The last one was about seeing people and having them see me. It was fun and weird at the same time. We had it in a building with no windows. Sad, I thought we deserved better.
Many of my high school classmates were with me from kindergarten on up to HS. Now I think it's too bad I was not closer friends to them.
