Stephen's Story
School
Kennedy High School, I think on my first day at I was told by my home room teacher I didn't have to attend. That was not the right thing to say to me, I skipped the rest of that first day. What a bunch of drunks, the greaser's and their black leather jackets. The picnic table in the greaser courtyard was painted by us something like "Schlitz the beer that made Glenmont famous." Some of things we did are just incredible to think about. If my daughter even trys one of those, I'll kill her.
As I think back, school for me was social hour, I should have spent more time in class and doing what I was supposed to do instead of chasing girls. Well some things have not changed.
Remember the long hair, thank god I still have my hair and teeth.
Military
Ahhh the Navy, it was the 70's Vietnam was over and I was a High School dropout who needed some direction. Not to mention if i stayed at home I ws going to get married to a girl who turned out to be part of a "Murder for Hire" plot. I think she did some time in jail for that one. The Navy did teach me how to deal with people of many colors, pla...Expand for more
ces and religons. Since the Navy I've been very succesful in the business community, and I always say the Navy helped out. When you're crammed into a compartment on a ship with 30 other guys you have to be able to cope. Thats something you wouldn't have learned elsewhere. I was stationed in Guam and at first I thought oh god what is there. However I had just received my scuba certification and the diving in Guam was incredible. We looked forward to the weekends and days off. Everyday off was at least a 2 tank dive sometime 3. Night dives, wreck dives on World War II equipment, Destroyers, Japanese Zero, dive bombers, half tracks and tanks. If you scuba dive Guam is the place to be. And then onto the USS Cleveland LPD7, I read earlier from someone else this was the cloesest thing to a penal colony, I might have to agree. I never did a Westpac and now I'm sorry that I didn't. While I was on the cleveland we just sat at the dock and did 3 or 4 days at sea. Not a great life at all. One nice cruise to the Canadian area was nice although other than that not the sea life many have spoken about.
