Steve's Story
Brigadier General Steven M. Anderson assumed duties as the Director, Operations and Logistics Readiness, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, in the Pentagon on 11 December 2007.
Brigadier General Anderson graduated from Monte Vista High School in Danville, California, in 1974 and the United States Army Military Academy at West Point in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned a Master¿s Degree in Operations Analysis- Engineering at the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California. He is a graduate of the Army War College, United States Marine Corp Command and Staff College, and the Army Airborne and Air Assault Schools.
In November 2007, he completed a 15 month assignment as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Resources and Sustainment, Multi-National Force-Iraq, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. From July 2004 through August 2006 he served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, C-4/J-4, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea/Deputy Commander Support, Eighth United States Army, Korea. ision Support Command, 2nd Infantry Division, Korea from July 2000 through June 2002, Commander, 725th Main Support Battalion, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, from June 1995 through July1997, and Company Commander of the 542nd Maintenance Company at Ft Lewis, WA from Nov 1982 thru March 1984.
His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion
of Merit with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious
Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service
Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal.
Brigadier General Anderson is married to the former Anne L. RisCassi of Hartford, Connecticut They have two children: Mrs. Cassi Rodriguez (23), an elementary school teacher in Springfield, Virginia, married to Marcial Rodriguez of the US Coast Guard, and Drake (16) a junior at Washington & Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia. He is an avid golfer, armchair sports fan, and nationally ranked middle-distance and long distance age group runner that has completed over 40 marathons.
