After I graduated from Lee I joined the US Marine Corps. I remained on active duty for 12 years and remained in the reserves for 14 years. I was able to work with the AV8A Harrier as an Avionics tech when it first entered service in 1972. I visited the far east and spent time in NC, SC, TN, FL, CA, AZ, and VA while on active duty. I graduated from Southern Illinois University with an Aviation Management BS. In 1980 I was selected for Officers Candidate School at Quantico, VA. I spent the next 3 years of my career as an officer. In 1984 I opted to leave active duty as a 1st Lt. to begin a career in aerospace of all things. I spent 7 years with Aerojet Electrosystems in Azusa CA and worked on a spy satellite program as a test engineer. I was able to work at Kennedy Space Center for 4 years.
