Steve's Story

Life I live in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. I have been married to my wife, Lee Ann since 1991 and we have 2 children, Justin age 15 and Aubrey age 11. I enjoy golf, racquetball, flying, travel, the beach and spending time with my family. College The Ohio State University College of Engineering Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture Graduated December 1980 Workplace I was comissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps upon graduation from The Ohio State University in Dec 1980. I attended The Officers Basic School at Quantico, VA Feb-Aug 1980. I then attended U.S. Naval Flight School in Pensacola, FL from Sept 1980 to Sept 1982 an was designated as a Naval Aviator and helicopter pilot. From October 1982 to Mar 1983 I was assigned to Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River, NC for transition training in the CH-53A/D Sea Stallion helicopter. Mar 1983-Aug 1987 I was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii flying the CH-53D. Transferred to MCAS Tustin, CA Sep 1987 to Dec 1988 as an instructor in the CH-53A/D/E helicopter. Completed Active Duty in Dec 1988 and began flying corporate Jets and helicopters for Trans-Exec Air Services in Santa Monica, CA 1988-1990. Began U.S. Marine Corps Reserve flying CH-53D at Naval Air Station Alameda, CA. In 1990 I was hired by Aspen Helicopters, Inc. in Oxnard, CA flying airplanes and helicopters reaching the position of Vice President/Director of Maintenance. I transferred to the U.S. Naval Reserve at Naval Air Station Point Mugu, CA flying HH-60H Nighthawk helicopters doing Combat Search and Rescue and Special Operation (Navy Seals) Flight support until 1995. In 1995 I returned to Cincinnati, OH flying helicopters for the University of Cincinnati Air Care Program. Transferred to Naval Air Station Norfolk, VA flying HH-60H helicopters. Returned to Active Duty with the Navy in Jul 1999 and transferred to Headquarter U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor Hawaii where I served as Director of Joint and Fleet Exercises until 2004. Released from Active Duty Sept 2006 and currently back at Headquarters U.S. Pacific Fleet Exercises Directorate working as a defense contractor with CUBIC Applications, Inc. I am a Joint and Fleet Exercises Planner. I am still serving as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve Component. I was released from Active Duty recall orders and then accepted orders to Active Duty for Special Work at Headquarters U.S. Pacific Command, Camp Smith HI serving as Theater Security Cooperation Exercises Branch Chief and Australia Exercises Officer. Released from Active Duty for Special Work in Sept 2006. I am currently serving as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve Component assigned to Headquarters U.S. Pacific Fleet Reserve Detachment 120.
