Steve's Story
After graduating from Hellgate HS, I attended the University of Montana. I graduated with an Accounting degree in June, 1974 and moved to Helena to take a job with Columbia Paint Company. I lived in Helena for 13 years, working for the State of Montana for 11 of those years. Having felt like I've been there, done that in Helena, in 1987, I took a leap of faith and packed up and moved to San Diego; no job, no friends, just faith that I would succeed. It was a great time in my life and I lived there for 13 years. In 2000, I reconnected with a woman that I had known while attending UM, and by the time the summer was over, I packed up and moved again to live with her in Santa Fe, NM. New Mexico is a really charming place to live and I thoroughly enjoyed it. But in 2003, her father passed away and we decided to move back to Montana and help her mother take care of the cattle ranch in the Bitterroot Valley, south of Missoula in Corvallis. lived there for two years, got married on the ranch, and honeymooned in both the Mayan Riviera of Mexico and in Italy. Upon returning to the ranch, we decided to start our new lives together by moving to Reno, NV. We lived in Reno for 8 years until 2013. The economy in Reno (and Nevada in general for that matter) never really recovered from the economic meltdown in 2008, so we decided it was time to move back to Santa Fe. We have been in Santa Fe since November, 2013 and are happy to be back. I returned to work at a property management company that I worked at the first time we lived here and now I am the CFO of the company. Still going strong after all these years!!!
Update: Still living in Santa Fe, but retired in August, 2021. I am splitting my time between Montana and Santa Fe these days. Let me know if you would like to get together for lunch, dinner, or drinks and we can plan to get together when I am back in Montana visiting!!
