Steve's Story
Hello to all Burroughs alumni...
Law enforcement is huge in our family, and I have joined in. I am retiring from the grocery business Nov. 1, and taking a position as Public Affairs Officer at the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. My ASU communications/broadcasting degree from 1976 comes in handy!! God opened a great door at age 69 to do something I really enjoy.
My daughter Dannae got married Aug 25th!!! We are so excited for her and Jon. Husband is military and law enforcement (in fact, in training for deployment to Middle East right now.) He will be gone for about one year. God Bless America and all our active duty and retired military folks.
Just want to say this: I have two sons in law enforcement since 2007. Their lives are on the line every minute of every day. The next phone call I get could be tragic...if you have never lived with that, you don't know what it's like. They are true heroes. The current climate in this country against it is insane. I am praying God turns this nation back to what it was founded on.
This came home in a huge way on June 28, 2022...Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Rick Lopez was shot and killed while on duty a few miles from our home. Rick worked at a local Safeway almost 20 years ago with my sons, Josh and Jeremy. My boys decided they wanted to do something meaningful with their lives and went into law enforcement in 2007, and Rick joined them a year later, leaving a lucrative management job for public service. My son, Josh, is now a lieutenant with YCSO. Rick was his best friend. Rick was honored in May 2023 with his name put on the ...Expand for more
memorial to fallen officers in Washington, DC. Josh was there for the ceremony.
Congrats to my son Josh, promoted this year to Lieutenant and head of the county Narcotics Task Force, and my son Jeremy, PD detective and SWAT team leader, who was named 2022 Chief's Excellence Award winner. Very proud of both of them.
Nov 23,2023 --- celebrating 46 years of marriage to my beautiful wife, Becky, greatest decision of my life next to receiving Christ as my Savior in 1977. Together we have a great family of 4 kids and 6 grandkids (ages 4-12).
Just want to post a tribute to my older brother, Tim Brazell, who passed away suddenly Dec 5,2020 while hiking in the local area where we live. He was Burroughs class of 1966, a good man and father to 3 grown children, and my good friend. Veterans honors ceremony was June 18,2021 in Prescott AZ . Life is not guaranteed. Make the most of every day.
My Dad, Walt, would have turned 100 on March 26, 2023. Passed away 10 years ago. One of the greatest influences in my life.
Oldest son is an IT expert with his own business and also in ministry as an evangelist for his church in the Phoenix area. My daughter is manager of 3 offices with Dignity Health in the Prescott, AZ area. Very proud of both.
If any classmates come to the Prescott AZ area, look me up (Yavapai County Sheriff's Office).
I no longer pay for Classmates so I cannot see who visited my profile. Have to cut my budget to deal with inflation. lol
Hope the rest of 2023 brings you peace and joy through all things. We have a future and a hope in Christ!
Take care,
Steve
