Steve's Story
For 11+ years after graduation, I was in Admiral Rickover's nuclear navy, stationed on two aircraft carriers (Enterprise and Nimitz). In between, I was an instructor for ~ 4 years at the Naval Reactor Testing Station, located within the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory in the desert outside Idaho Falls. Idaho. ndergraduate and graduate student at the Illinois Institute of Technology working on an MS in Organic Chemistry.
My original intention was to teach, but capitalistic tendencies won, and I've spent the last 8+ years in the pharmaceutical industry, almost 5 with Takeda Global Research and Development outside of Chicago; I'm now a Director of Regulatory Affairs with MedImmune, the biotech arm of the global pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. If you've seen the commercials (print or TV) for the sleep drug Rozerem (Abraham Lincoln and that damn beaver: "Your dreams miss you.") or have a child with RSV disease (Synagis), you're familiar with two of the drugs I've helped develop and bring to and keep on the market.
Today Ken and I live on our two acres in the Maryland suburbs of Washington DC with our two Shelties, Caoimhe ("Keeva") and Fiona.
