Steve's Story

Here is hoping that 2016 will be a better year for all and that this finds everyone is doing great. In the last 8 years I have had some serious health issues which I'm happy to say that I have overcome all but one. I have had Colon Cancer which I can say that I'm cancer free right now. I have had 5 heart attacks, 3 strokes, pneumonia and due to being in a Coma for 3 1/2 weeks after my first heart attack I had tubes shoved down my throat, and as a result I now live with a TRAC so that I can breathe due to the scar tissues and damage done to my vocal cords. This last September I had a toe amputated due to the Agent Orange, currently fighting to save my same foot. I'm divorced after 32 years, I'm still trying to adjust and enjoy life but I do miss having a companion/best friend/spouse/ lover, but all that can be replaced while the years invested in such a relationship cannot. I'm still trying to figure out what to do next and where to start life again. During this ordeal I decided to retire after putting in more that 32 years with the Federal Government. My venture with the government included 5 years with the Justice Department prior to changing over to the Dept of Defense which I put in another 27 years with. I have worked on NASA programs such as the Hubble Telescope and I was in charge of 3 Star Wars programs at Lockheed Martin in Denver. When I retired I was the local program manager working on a Weather Satellit...Expand for more
e program that is a joint adventure between NASA, Air Force and the Dept of Commerce at Raytheon in Denver as well. Well it is sad to say but the Air Force and Dept of Commerce could not get along and wasted all the time, money on this program and there was a lot of fraud and misrepresentation going on and the program was killed. I always wondered why the Air Force wouldn't let me do my job the way I was used to and now I know why. I hired expertise in Software Engineering and Earned Value Management and just as soon as I did was told their services weren't needed I'm a disable veteran (nothing physical other than toe or mental (I don't think)) thanks to Vietnam, Agent Orange and other issues. Since retirement I have started 2 businesses with my sons which one is successful. For the last 33 years I have lived in the Denver, Colorado metro area in the town of Parker. I would love to hear from anyone from the Evansville & Marion areas. I'm including my personal email address in case anyone wants to drop a line. I have now moved back to the Evansville area and live in Chandler. I have planned on moving to Newburgh area or build a home in Kentucky south of Henderson but when I went by this home in unincorporated Chandler that sits on 2 1/2 acres I fell in love with it and bought it instead. I don't get to the classmate web site that often unless something comes in through my email.(steve.duvall at mesanetworks . net).
