Steve's Story
Life
Hi everyone.
I have been looking around this web site and I have been quite disappointed that there is little information as to what my old classmates have been up to all these years. I thought that I would stop being a hypocrite and put something in here myself.
Here is a quick synopsis of what I have been up to.
School:
I went to a small private college in Springfield Missouri named Evangel College. I took a year off before going, a year off in the middle somewhere and I took a lot of extra courses so I didnÂt graduate until 1979.
I went to graduate school and received a masterÂs degree in limnology in 1981.
Work:
I taught college level biology for a few years, full time at one school and part time at 2 others.
In 1983 I started a company in Batavia Illinois that made computerized physiology data acquisition systems for biology laboratories. I was the primary software and hardware engineer and ran the company until 1998.
In 1998 I sold one of our products to a group of investors and became a cofounder of a much larger venture. By 2001 we had finished product development and we were ready for marketing when September 11th happened and all of the investors pulled out.
I tried to keep the dream alive with my own money ...Expand for more
and impoverished myself. I did some computer consulting for a few years and last year I took a job as a senior software engineer at Sirius Satellite Radio and moved to White Lake Michigan.
Family:
Now for the important stuff:
I married Sharon Presti in 1986. Sharon and I had dated in high school but we went separate ways, got married to ÂothersÂ, divorced and then we found each other again. We have now been married 21 years.
In 1988 we had a son, Lucas (Luke), and in 1989 a daughter, Hadessa (Hadi). The kids totally became the center of my life, and are kids are and were wonderful. I am happy to report that even as teenagers those 2 never were any more trouble than maybe a little grumpiness now and then, and we remained close, always. I used to love it when my daughter would introduce me and would proudly say ÂThis is my dad, he is still a kid.Â
October 26th, 2006 became the most horrific and saddest day of my life. My precious 17 year old Hadi was killed instantly in a car crash. She was so full of joy and such an extremely social butterfly. She gave us so much  and gave so much to others. The hole she left is so enormousÂ
Â
.. She was no trouble, had great grades, huge dreams and ambitionsÂ
Â
. I feel so lost......
