Steve's Story
What a long, strange trip it's been!
I left Newport and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1982 and have only once returned for a very brief visit in 1999. Portland prides itself on being weird and has certainly never stopped making me feel right at home.
Now then. . .two marriages that went kaput! did gift me with two sons and two daughters. My oldest son, however, was killed in a head-on collision at Christmas time of 2002. The remaining three kids have, over time, gifted me with two grandsons and a granddaughter.
W.C. Fields (supposedly) said: "If I'd know that I was going to live ...Expand for more
this long, I'd have taken better care of myself." Well, can't say that I would have but I didn't (take better care of myself)! However, I often (definitely not always) had quite a far-out time not taking such good care of myself. Regardless, I have health issues (some centered around an injury that I suffered back in the early 90's) and so I am a pretty much stay-at-home soul. For the past 15 years I have lived with a wonderful California Hippie girl two years younger than me and life is the toots! Art provides me with commercial and personal grats!
