Steve's Story

Hello to all, Well I never thought I would be joining a "Old Classmates" website. I was never one to write or even do homework when I was a much younger man. I also skipped class as often as possible to party with friends. I was considered a party animal. My life however has turned out to be a dream come true. I enlisted in the US Navy in June of 1979. I was married in February of 1980 to a high school friend turned sweetheart. Her name is Charlene "Baker" Hall. I fell in love with her at first sight. We became fishing buddies and then lovers and for the past 29 years she has been my guiding light. Charlene has made me the person I am today. We traveled around the world with the US government. I left the US Navy in 1985 and hired on with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company (Now Boeing Aerospace) I managed to educate my self with a college degree; Bachelor of Science, Electronic Technology (BSET). My job with Boeing was to educate enlisted military personnel with regards to maintenance and repair of fighter aircraft. I was a senior field service engineer working on the F/A-18 Hornet and the F-15E Strike Eagle. My job took my family to many new places on the East and West coast of North America. We also spent four plus years in Hawaii. I also served in the First Gulf War in 1990-91 as a civilian contractor assigned to the US Marine Corps in support of F/A-18 Hornets operating from Shakisa, Bahrain in the Persian Gulf. After numerous years of traveling Charlene and I decided to move back home to (Hope Mills) from Edwards Air Force Base in California. It was 1995 when we returned to the Cumberland County area. yement locally, I hired on with North Carolina State Govt. as a Network Engineer and Charlene continued to work in her medical field of Physical Therapy. In November of 1996 we purchased a home in Eastern Cumberland County (Beaver Dam Community). We were so glad to be home near family. We finally came full circle with our lives and truly enjoy being close to family for holidays and other family events. During our many years of travel we always thought about coming home and buying some land out in the country and that is just what we did. We own twelve plus acres and live in our dream home. We are thankful each and every day for our accomplishments and are truly blessed by god. We are strong in our faith and prayer. We have two sons; Brandon who is 29 and Jason who is 26. Both have been very good sons and we are very thankful for their achievements. Charlene and I were able to retire from work in March of 2007. We spend each day together and remain just as much in LOVE as when we were teenagers. We spend as much time together as possible and act like "giddy" school kids sometimes. Maybe not as frequently as before but quality out weighs quantity as you get older (if you know what I mean). Please look us up if you are ever in the Hope Mills area. We are in the telephone book as Steve and Charlene Hall. One last note... Charlene remains my true love. she gave me inspiration and encouragement many years ago when most of my so called "friends" would not give me the time of day. I thank God for her each and every day and I tell her, "I love you" as often as possible. She made me the man I am today. Sincerely, Steve Hall
