Steve's Story

During my final year at JFK my father got transfered to Honolulu. Therefore,I was able to graduate early but not able to attend graduation ceremonies.I stayed in Hawaii a few months and then went "soul searching" in the Pacific Northwest. After a year of "finding myself" and losing forty pounds,I called home and my parents sent me a plane ticket. In 1973 I got a job with Allied Aviation who did contract services for Western Airlines. In 1976 Western took over the services and I got hired. In the mid 1980s when deregulation was instated,Western fell upon hard times and merged with Delta Airlines.Again,I got hired on with Delta. In 2000 Delta did a Chapter 11 bankruptsy. As a cost cutting move they offered everybody at the top of the payscale an early out with five years towards an early retirement. Then they could replace these employees with new hires at the bottom of the payscale.I decided to accept Deltas offer.Anyways,in 1990 I transfered with Delta to Utah.Been here ever since.Since leaving Delta I have worked every job you can imagine.I waited tables and washed dishes in a restaurant,I worked in a Potash plant,I was a baking pan thrower in a bakery,a Mail Clerk for the IRS,made automotive airbags on a production line,I have been a Lube Tech and Lot Tech at six different Auto Dealerships, worked at a Car Rental prepping cars and picking up customers, was an Semi-Truck offloader in a Dairy-Deli freezer, and a Fleet Service delivery driver for a Dealership.Just to name a few.I'm an avid record LP collector.I still have LPs that I bought at the record store at the Mall in Wheaton.I collect albums from the 1960s and 70s of obscure bands of that time.A few examples would be; The 13th Floor Elevator,Christmas,Bull Angus, and Mint Tattoo.I also like to collect banned album covers.A few examples would be;Blind Faith,Hendrix Electric Ladyland,Moms Apple Pie,and Scorpions In Trance and Virgin Killer.I feel I have lived a full life, and have done and seen everything I wanted to.I even tried marriage for a few years.I feel mariage is over rated.I drive a Jeep Grand Cherokee for the winters and wheeling in Utah.I also have a 1966 Mustang with 51,000 original miles and in great...Expand for more
condition. The Mustang is not for winters and wheeling. It is a summer cruiser and a hobby.I belong to a Mustang group called NUMOA (Northern Utah Mustang Owners Association).I have been in every State but Alaska, and met alot of interesting people in my travels. And I will never forget my time and friends at JFK. Update as of August 16,2016. I decided to take Social Security at age 63, so with my Western Airlines pension and Delta Airlines pension and Social Security I'm living ok. I sold the 1966 Mustang to a car collector here in Utah and totaled the Jeep Grand Cherokee. I now drive a 2010 Chevy Malibu LT with the Level 2 package. It has only 30,000 miles on it and one previous owner, all aluminum DOHC 4 valve engine, 6 speed semi-auto trans with the paddle shifter, all leather interior and killer sound system. Oh, and 30 mpg! I'm still collecting record albums and still listen to the music of the 1960s,70s and 80s. I have Sirius XM in my car and listen to a channel called "Ozzys Boneyard". By choice I live in a one bedroom apartment (top floor, corner unit) with two cats. Apartments are great for a single guy like me. If anything goes wrong within the apartment, maintenance comes up and fixes it for free! And I don't have to do any yard work! I grow catnip and chili peppers out on the patio and even have a washer and dryer in the unit....and central A/C and heat. Got 200 channels on the TV and a killer "old school" stereo set-up to play LPs on. You can find me on FB using the same avatar as on this site. But you have to use the avatars name.....Well, as of 12/06/20 I had a complete knee replacement. I have been off from work and am still doing PT. I work for NAPA now as a parts delivery driver, and it's one of the best jobs I have ever had. I have some groups on FB that I run and help out on others as a moderator. And they are all automotive related. Mostly 1964/65 Mercury Comet and 289 engine type groups. You can't use the current classmate's avatar to find me on FB. Eventually I have changed it. Therefore, I will change the classmate's avatar. But you need to know the avatars name to find me. (hint) he is from the same cartoon as the previous avatar.
