Steve's Story
Life
I met my wife Naoko while talking about Japan in an Italian restaurant in a Norwegian neighborhood in Seattle, WA. We now have two brilliant and beautiful kids. I've worked in the woods in Idaho (as a biologist), in the streets of New York City (as a Paramedic), and for the past 15 years I've been working for Boeing as an environmental health specialist (with a few side excursions as a consultant). Everything changes, all the time.
The planet only appears to be solid. In fact, it is in a constant state of flux. Continents shift, mountains split, new seas join new shores.
The planet only appears to be permanent. In fact, it is in a constant state of peril. One day, it will be entirely transfigured; consumed by the sun, or shattered by passing stones.

h of us at middle age hovers between the poles of life and death, there seem to be times when a society pass out of the gravity of the planet which formed it, and begins to be pulled into the influence of some new world which is its future.
There are always many possible manifestations of the future, and we each choose in our hearts that world which we wish to gravitate towards. However, we are each only one element of a larger mass, and the effect of our individual forces and wills, will itself be shaped by the movement of that larger mass.
We must each be prepared to live in a world that is in conflict with the wants of our hearts. Such is the mature nature of compromise, driven by a hope that the future may be better, and our descendents may live to see that future
