Steve's Story

Retired from the Sarasota Sheriffs office in 2010 after a 33 year career. Seems amazing now, as I was never in the military and really had never considered a quasi-military type of career. Some Highlights; my assignments as the School Resource officer at Riverview H.S IN 1984, and my two years as the School Resource officer at Venice Middle school 1985-1986. While assigned to the Detective Bureau 1987-1989 there were many unique cases I was involved with in investigating. Then my assignment as the Sarasota Police academy director for 3 1/2 years, contracted through the Sheriff's office. Married for the second time to my wife Shellie,19 years as of March 2010. I have two stepsons Brian & Chad now in their th...Expand for more
irties. Late in life dad, with a daughter Hannah who is attending UCF in Orlando, after transferring from FGCU. Didn't move very far, as we have lived in Venice since 1983. Hope to keep up my passions which usually involve the outdoors. Hope to increase my cycling time, have been doing more of the different bicycle rides varying lengths. Still hiking on the Appalachian Trail. As of March 2016, still have little under 400 miles to go. Started in 1992 doing small sections. Hope to finish what I have left after retiring. Amazing trip in 2014, went with some friends to England. Saw Stonehenge, London, and a hike along the Hadrian Wall footpath. Hopefully couple more walks in England or Europe. Then we will see !!
