I am thoroughly convinced that Classmates.com has only 8 Goldmembers, and that each is a reunion planner. Okay, throw in a ninth for that person who really believes that he should have married his high school sweetheart and will "reconnect" and live out his dreams through the site.
By the way, don't look for my bio to be spotlighted by Classmates anytime soon.
Within a few months of graduating from NMB, being a cut-up paid off when I landed a job as a writer/producer on the Love 94 (WLVE FM) morning show just down the street from my house.
Before long, I was a regular "personality" on the show and had my own Friday night show.
I spent a glorious 5 years between there and 105.9 WAXY FM -- and worked at another station for 4 hours before it changed format -- before leaving permanently for a career in public relations.
While working in radio, I took my act to the stage, doing standup first at Coconuts (at the HoJo in the Golden Glades), then just about everywhere that ...Expand for more
had a microphone and something that could pass for a stage. Like a Velda Farms milk crate.
Hell, it was the 80's and standup was HUGE!
But the best part of it all was meeting my wife, who was helping out her sister (a partner in Coconuts) by working the door during the Edge Gel Jest of the West competition. I killed that night, but lost to a guy who completely wasted the opportunity by dying a few years later.
I think each half of a couple should see the other half on stage in front of an audience before making any commitment.
It's been nearly 16 years since we married, and she still occasionally laughs at my jokes. We have 3 beautiful children, who also laugh at my jokes, mostly when they include the word, "poop." Actually, I pretty much only have to say "poop" to get a laugh. Great crowd.
I've worked in a bunch of PR jobs, from agency work to in-house departments. I'm back in NMB now, working as communications director at Beth Torah. Lots of NMB-ers here!
