Update 12/31/2020 I retired from Zee in 2014 and we moved to Talent, Oregon, on 20 acres in the hills NW of Ashland. Life (updated Oct 2013) I went to UC Davis, B.S. aeronautical engineering, 1979. Avid bicyclist. I worked at NASA Ames Research Center for 33 yrs. in applied aerodynamics. Finished my Ph.D. at Stanford in 1995. I recently retired from NASA and now work for a small start-up aircraft company called Zee.Aero. If you watch Mythbusters, you'll see me on the show now and then, more often behind the scenes, as a volunteer science consultant. My main recreation is soaring. I race my LS-6 sailplane in 15-Meter class. I have been Northern California Regional champion, 12th in Nationals. I also built a 2-seat power plane, an RV-8, from a kit. At 200 mph and 8 gal/hr, it is a nice way to travel. Still trying to bicycle as much as I can, but with my new job at Zee, my riding is much less than it was.
