Steve's Story

My story... (Dedicated to our friend Billy Davis who passed around 5 years ago) Once upon a time on a cold northern Minnesota night in December my parents decided to hit the rack early and so then 9 months later in 1952 I arrived. 13 years, 311 days and a fortnight later I became a freshman at Highland High School in Thornton, Colorado. Ok. Enough of that. Wow. Am I really communicating my story among those, with few exceptions, I've had no contact with in almost 40 years? I think I am. So bear with me. We all went to Highland so I¿m assuming reading and writing wasn¿t altogether of primary concern to most of us. ¿ Upon graduating I became a private in the army and did a stint in Vietnam. Chuck Provo mentioned he spent time in Da Nang which is where I hung out most of my time in the 24th Corp. We probably ran into one another and didn¿t even know it. Anyway, into the army in 1970 and back to civilian life in 1972. After some college (theology of all things) and some training in broadcasting I became a radio sports announcer and lasted ...Expand for more
13 years. For 7 years I was Sports Director at KBOL radio in Boulder which included duties such as color analyst for Colorado Buffalo Basketball and also hosted a post game talk show for Colorado Buffalo Football. Other stations I worked at included WBAP in Dallas, TX and KYBG in Denver. In the mid 80¿s my wife Nancy decided that it was time I started working for a living. I¿ve now been in the field of transportation for 22 years. I am currently director of an 80 truck fleet hauling beer in and out of the Coors facility here in Golden, Colorado. I have 3 children¿ Jake 31 years of age, a supervisor at Qwest. Heather, 27 years old, just got her Business Mgmt. degree at Metro. Joshua, 22 years old, still trying to decide what to do in life. My wife is Nancy (Glaze)and we have been married 22 years. (this is my 2nd marriage) There ya have it. Looking forward to hearing from some of you folks. Steve Staab PS My life didn¿t turn out the way I had planned. I¿m neither a rock star nor a professional athlete. Maybe in my next life. ¿
