Steve's Story
Steven L. Warren is a native Oklahoman. He has several national and regional writing; producing and directing credits achieved during his 30 years of work in television broadcasting, national cable television and advertising.
Warren wrote and produced the award winning Civil War documentary "Last Raid at Cabin Creek." His research for the documentary and the book "Brilliant Victory: The Second Civil War Battle of Cabin Creek, Indian Territory" took him to archives in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. He located and brought to light new eyewitness information about the second battle of Cabin Creek, which had not been seen in more than 90 years. The documentary is now a part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
Warren is a contributing writer to the Civil War Preservation Trust's book Civil War Sites: The Official Guide to Battlefields, Monuments and More published in March 2003 and to the Oklahoma Historical Society for their book The Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture, which was released in 2007.

His column on the preservation of the Cabin Creek Battlefield Park appeared in the September 2003 edition of The Civil War News, a monthly newspaper covering Civil War events around the country.
Warren's article entitled "The Forgotten Civil War Relics of Idaho and Washington State appeared in the October 2004 edition of North South Trader's Civil War magazine.
He is a member of the Civil War Preservation Trust, Friends of Cabin Creek Battlefield, Friends of the Hunley and the Company of Military Historians.
Steve received his M.A. degree in Journalism & Mass Communication from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Tulsa.
Warren is currently a news writer-producer for "The 700 Club," which is broadcast across the country every weekday and also writes for CBNNews.com, the web site of the Christian Broadcasting Network News.
He and his wife Amy (yes, she's in TV too.) Amy is the Director of Sales & Marketing for KCTV, Channel 5 (CBS) in Kansas City. They have two daughters, Emma and Alli. They make their home in Overland Park.
