Steve's Story

After graduation in 1975, I graduated from Mississippi College and married Tammy Watson (Forest Hill HS) in 1979. Worked for Allstate Insurance for many years, living in Nashville, TN for 10 years before moving to Meridian, MS in 1994. Currently, a Sales Manager for MetLife Auto & Home Insurance and Tammy is secretary for our church, Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church. We have two kids, Jeff & Emily. Jeff is a graduate of MSU in Computer Engineering, getting married 8/09 and moving to Univ of VA for Doctorate. Emily just graduated from Meridian High and attending Meridian CC in the fall working toward a degree in Elementary Education. God has blessed our family greatly and we are proud to be His children. Our life is boring to most but busily supportive of our kid's activities. If we're not at church, we've been busy following Emily in marching band, high school choir or Mississippi Baptist All-State Youth Choir & Orchestra. I've had a blast photographing the band and the 5A Football State Champion Meridian Wildcats. Now that Jeff is getting married, we will be making trips to Charlottesville, VA to see them in school. Both he and his fiance are on full academic scholars...Expand for more
hips so we are very proud of them. As for the immediate future, we have season tickets to MSU football games and will be tailgating with our friends from church. Too cold to hunt much these days but I enjoy taking pictures! Life didn't turn out the way I had it planned. It turned out much better so I'm glad God is the one in control and not me. I lost my dad to cancer almost two years ago and learned alot about life, faith and family. My friend, James Yelverton '75 lost his dad the year before and like many of you, we have that in common if nothing else. I often wonder about the status of my teachers from school and chuckle over the lessons learned. Who would have thought that the hardest teachers would become the ones I respect the most today! For years, I retold the stories of high school to friends and then my children but somehow today, I can recall only a few. Of course, it's much more fun to remember only the good stories. And, to the football coaches who wanted me to gain weight since I was only 135 lbs as a sophomore, you got your wish; A 6'2", 220 lbs member of AARP. To each of you, I wish only the best and may God bless you in all that you do. Steve Brantley
