Steve's Story

Life My life is good. My wife of 24 years is disabled now due to a back injury, but she`s hangin in there. My daughter [22] is a marine pipe fitter at Bremerton and my son [20] is starting college in the fall.We have 6 big fat cats.I live in the same house that I bought before our 5 year reunion, but I`m no longer saddled with that $196 monthly house payment.I spend most of my spare time working on or riding my motorcycle. An 04 Triumph Bonneville.Best bike I`ve ever owned. Pretty much hang around the house, spend huge amounts of time online these days.Still have my appendix and tonsils, but no hair or butt. Pretty healthy cuz I work outdoors and still like to take the long, long walks that I enjoyed when we lived on Scenic Hill.I still have a good memory and often think back to the good old days.I`ve told my kids alot about those days and feel somewhat sad that in these modern times my kids will never know the utter joy and freedom that I grew up with.Riding in the back of my dads pick-up,or doing donuts in Turners field across from the school during lunch with Gary Rennaker was always a blast.Making out with girls at the El Rancho or sneaking into SIR for the "fox hunts" was so exciting and dangerous that it made us feel really "alive".I had a great time growing up back then.I grew up with the same kids all the way thru school, and after that, poof, all just memories.I still have several elementary school class pictures somewhere around the house to remind me of the simpler days.Oh well, enough about that. Life is good now too. School Whats to say? Scenic Hill elementary, lots of fun.Walked to school, spent way too much time "playing" in the woods behind the Kent Swim Club.Lots of baseball in the cemetary across from Debbie Woodbury`s house. Junior High at, what else,Kent Junior High. And not that lame, prison looking thing there now.The cool one with the crumbling bricks, outside stairways and the neat gym where I broke my wrist on the rings.Kent MeridianHS.Had a great time.Football games, shop classes and looking at all the girls. No,really,ALL of you! It was the 70s after all. Workplace I`m a pipefitter foreman for the largest subcontractor of...Expand for more
Puget Sound Energy`s natural gas division. I worked for WNG /PSE for 22 years before being "outsourced" in 2001.The new job is awesome and I still look forward to going to work each day.I`m drawing my pension from PSE just because I can.HAHA. I`ve never really had any other "real" jobs except the Army for a couple years after graduation. Military Spent 2 years in the Army,1973-75.Stationed in Baumholder West Germany and lived in a barracks with a swastika bricked into the facade over the front door.Every thing about the Army except going on leave was boring.I ran the motorpool.Took fantastic vacations to the Alps,Austria,Italy,France and little towns throughout Germany.I did find out that Jeff Essex was stationed there too,as I was shipping out.Would have been cool to hang out with somebody who spoke my language. Just a couple small updates. My daughter now works with me,as does her husband. They were married Aug.1. And my wife of 26-1/2 years,Jeri, passed away in her sleep on Dec.15 2009. guess it's been a minute lol.. Well, still live in the same house. Married my wife's best friend in 2013. Retired in 2014 after 35 years in the natural gas industry. Just taking it easy now. Have 2 beautiful grandchildren to keep me young. Have been feeling pretty nostalgic lately, good old days and all that crap, so was pretty happy to have gone to the reunion a couple years ago. Only classmate I really ever see is Robin Drury, almost always at the casino, funnily enough. Have had to scale back on those trips though, now that I'm on a fixed income, but the wife and I still manage to get to Vegas a couple,3 times a year..Still have a good memory, can visualize lots of high school faces with your grown up names. Anyway,I'm back.. well, still retired, nearly 5 years now. Still love it..both grand children are in school now and my son is getting married in a couple weeks,so I guess all my adult duties are coming to an end.lol..seems like some people have looked at my profile too. That’s cool. Even though I recognize all the names,I wouldn’t have any idea what to say to any of them. Ha.. it’s been over 45 years and I know I sure as hell don’t look the same.
