Steven's Story

Life Steven L. Coulter: D.O.B. March 23, 1960, Los Angeles, Ca. Resided in Compton until 1983 Education: Abraham Lincoln Elementary, F.D. Roosevelt 1972-1975 Jr. High, Manuel Dominguez High School 1975-1978. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy 1978. Discharged in 1978. Attended Columbia School of Broadcasting 1978-80, Attended Los Angeles City College 1979-82 Associate Arts Degree, Broadcasting. Continued education, Moved to Atlanta, Ga. in 1983 to attend Morris Brown College from 1983-84, Theater major and member of Morris Brown College Marching Band. During this time a collegue invited me to a theatrical performance at Spelman College, after being impressed by the overall production I decided to audition for the next production which was the musical version of "A Raisin in the Sun" ,called "Raisin". Using the dramatic interpretive skills I had learned from speech competition in high school, I impressed the the director and got the role of BoBo Jones. After working regulary in college theater I began to seek out more extensive study in the area of acting, I then started attending acting schools, working with theater companines that had their own acting company, and training with Pamela Poitier. before I could realize after a few years of study and consistent work, I began to develop and become highly recognized in the Atlanta theater scene, working with some of the finest actors in the the southeast. After performing in a touring show, I began to attract attention from some of major talent agencies in the city. After I signed, here is a quick resume of my body of work Television: "In the Heat of the Night" "Savannah" "I'll Fly Away" "Due South" Movies made for T.V.: "Flash" Disney "Selma Lord Selma" Disney "Miss Evers Boys" HBO "A Lesson Before Dying" HBO "Boycott" HBO "Funny Valentines" BET/Starz "Momma Flora's Family" CBS "The Life of Noah Dearborn" CBS "The Rosa Parks Story" CBS Film: "Drumline" During these active years, I've had the time to have make a family, Cullen Coulter is my oldest at 14. A 9th grade freshman at Douglas County High School and has developed in to a doggone good baseball player, already near 6 ft. My youngest is Leighton Coulter, he will turn (3) in September. My wife and I have been married for 20 years this year, she has been a substitute teacher at in the D.C. school system for (2)years now. I live in a modest home in an area that is still basically "country" but is developing "burb" sensibilities.
