Steven's Story
College
I earned an AA degree in California in 1976 and went to Cal State, San Bernardino, for two quarters but became bored and joined the Army for three years. After that, I joined the Sheriff's Department in Riverside, Calif, and never found the time to return to college.
Workplace
After 26 years with the Riverside Sheriff's Dept in California, I retired in December and moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. I can't say that I miss the work and I'm lucky to get out healthy. I'm still married to my wife of 28 years, Candy, and we plan to travel the US and enjoy not having to work. We still have the boat for summer and we have...Expand for more
motorcycles and quads for the Calif and Arizona winters, which are usually in the 40's and 50's but have been known to reach 70.
Most of my family is still back in the Hobart/New Chicago area but I've grown used to the weather out west so I don't plan to return, other than to visit periodically. I haven't seen a reunion for the class of '74 but I'll keep watching.
Military
I was fortunate to work as an MP during my 3 year tour. 2 of those years I was an Investigator.
It was a culture shock when I was transferred from Fort Ord, Calif to Panama. We don't realize how good we have it until we go to a third world nation.
