Steven's Story

I came to Mt. Pleasant early in my Junior year (1965) from Royal Oak, MI. Father, James Mead, was professor at CMU. I took College Prep classes and ended up joining the Navy right after graduation and went into electronics and then Navy nuclear submarine training. The Navy was very good to me. Ended up spending 8.5 years in full-time school... including Navy nuclear reactors, obtaining B.S. Mechanical Engineering at University of NM, and later MSBA from Boston University while stationed near London, England. Married Leslie Ingham five weeks after meeting her in 1969... one of my very best decisions. N area. Still happy and living a great life. Four grown Daughters and nine grand-kids. Retired from the DOE plants about two years ago. I often think about how the education I got at Mt. Pleasant High paved the way for my life. I remember Mr. Bell who I had for senior English.... he taught me lessons on how to think and how to communicate I have used all through my life. Still play the guitar and sing folk music. Still have the Gibson J-50 guitar I bought in 1964 just before moving to Mount Pleasant. Like old Simon and Garfunkel, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, that kind of stuff.
