Steven's Story
Well after high school I worked in Ridgecrest, then went to school at Fullerton JC for a year then moved to No. Va., my parents worked in DC at that time. Got drafted in the 1st lottery spent 2 years in the army, the last year in Colorado Springs. When I got out I moved with friends to New Mexico, that was '72. I had been a surveyor in Va., the Army and continued in NM, saw much of the state before it started to grow. In '78 I change professions and went to work installing wood floors. I specialized in gym floors, installing, sanding, finishing and painting the game lines as the crew chief for most of the years. I moved into the office side of the buisness in '88, to save my knees (didn't work) as estimator, retail salesman and wholesale sales manager. Got married in '84 to Mary Lou after dating 6 years, we are still married. Then in '99 with young kids in elimentry school, we decided to find a better place to raise our kids, NM has VERY poor schools and high crime. My Family was living back in C...Expand for more
al by then so we found a nice out-of-theway place to live on the central coast, public schools tested in the top 20% in the nation and there is no crime. Being by the ocean is nice too, for a guy who spent most of his life in dry places. I worked here in retail flooring sales, designing interiors for new home buyers and for customers remodling. Retired in '08 and spend time working restoring old cars, going to shows with them. I've been involved with city government, The Chamber of Commerice, the local Home Builders Asso. , the county transportation advisory board as a board member, commissioner, director or associate at one time or another.Took an adult continuing ed class in '09 in sand castle building and go to the beach a couple of days a month, depending on the tide and weather, to build castles. I hope all of my classmates are having fun doing the thing you like and enjoy.
