Steven's Story

Life I haven't lived in IL since 1988 and haven't gone back very often, my visits have become less and less frequent each year, I am just to busy to go back and very little desire. I don't have much reason to go back much any more. Usually just for weddings or funerals. I haven't kept in touch with too many people from IL and even the few that I did keep in touch with has dwindled down to a couple. When I do go back it just doesn't feel like home any more, so I really don't miss living there, I really don't miss the cold weather and snow. Most of my family has moved up to Wisconsin or away over the years and they are very busy with thier own lives so we don't talk much, most friends are also very busy with this or that to get together during the rare occasions when I have visited. So, I have really lost my reasons to visit. I have lived all over the states and the world and home is where ever I am at, at any given time, except the Middle East never feels like home...LOL...I spend most of my time these days in the Middle East or Florida, I don't think I can say where in the Middle East on a public website, but unless you live under a rock, it's not hard to figure out where I am. The rest of my time is spent with my daughters in Florida where they live with my ex. they use up all of my vacation time each year. We spend most of the summer traveling and we are trying to hit all the sites in Florida, mostly Orlando, before my kids are too old to want to hang out with thier dad. Which probably isn't too far off seeing my oldest was 18 last May. I told her she...Expand for more
is not allowed to get any older because she is making me feel old and definetly no grand kids...ugh...two places I still want to visit is the Grand Canyon and maybe Niagra Falls. Not much else is going on with my life, I can retire from the military at any time now, yeah! I finally have my 20 years in, so I am trying to plan my next move, my next career, and start to really enjoy life...I still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up...LOL...I have really enjoyed my time in the military but it has really starting to wear on me, too many wars, too many deployment's and too much time in the Middle East, I think I have over 4 years in the Middle East just between the time I spent in Saudia Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. I have seen most of the world and now I am looking forard to just relaxing, taking some time off, traveling, which means going places I want to go, instead of crappy places I was forced to go. I just want to hang out with friends and do as little as possible for maybe a year or so before I start a second career. Maybe get in a little last minute quality time with my daughters before it is too late and if it's not too late already. My oldest is already moving on with her life, she is off to Europe for the summer (08) instead of hanging out with dad...so I want to hang out with the younger two before it's too late. I don't blame them, by 14 or even younger...I was done with my parents and just wanted to hang out with my friends. Well that's my latest update from September 2008. Hope everyone had a good summer. Take Care.
