travel as a family - and recently were in England, Croatia and Spain. We are adventuresome and love to ski together. Kathy is athletic. My brother, Kevin (TCHS '77) lives in Lake Travis. Besides my family, the most enjoyable thing in my life occurred between 2001 and 2004. Along with a friend in CA, I started a club baseball team named the Southern Cal Golden Spikes. After two tournaments, Tom and I were introduced a great guy named Nacho who brought his son and two other players. We finished first, second and first in our next three tournies. Went to the USSSA World Series in 2002 and finished 5th out of 88. Went to Cooperstown Dreams Park, went 10 - 1 and lost the semi final to a team from Miami that won the championship the next game. Went to Triple Crown World Series in Steamboat and made the Elite Eight. It was fun, the kids played well. We were a diverse team, yet had great chemistry. One of the biggest thrills was to have my brother's son, Zack, play with us in Cooperstown and Steamboat. He and Scott are 24 days apart in age. One of our players was in the group of 36 invited to the Youth National Team tryout after the 2006 Junior Olympics. He was later drafted in the 8th round by the Astros after high school. We had three players who received scholarships to D1 schools - UC Irvine, Indiana State and CS Bakersfield. The Spikes are now a club, and have sent a team to Cooperstown each year since 2002. We know those kids all had a great time and we think we have given back to a community in CA that we enjoyed very much. I think about growing up with Jeff Clark and Kenny Smith, I know you miss them as I do.
