Workplace
I started at the Employment Development Department as a clerk in 1968. I then became a trainer for the Department. After getting married in 1975, I moved to the bay area and eventually became a claims examiner for State Disability. As a claims examiner, I became the offices Workers Compensation Specialist and also a trainer for the Northern Area offices. I moved into supervision and eventually became the Assistant Manager in Stockton. I then transferred to San Jose and became the Assistant Manager before going back to Stockton as the Field Office Manager supervising about 90 staff. My final year was spent as the Northern Area Administrator in Sacramento. As the Area Administrator, all of the offices in Northern California reported to me. As part of the Executive Leadership team for Disability Insurance, I helped in the development and administration of policy, setting Branch goals, planning and overall administration of the Disability Insurance Program.
