Sue's Story
Life
After graduating from Perry High School in 1969, I attended Pitt during my hippie years and graduated in 1973 with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Psychology. I've worked at various jobs over the years, mostly editorial and administrative, in business, hospital, clinic, education and church settings. I' ve made it back to Pittsburgh a few times each year, but fewer visits have been possible these days, although my husband is now there working. I love visiting my family and friends (some I've reconnected with, some have fallen in and out of touch, others were found at Classmates). I have a great fondness for friendly and endearing Pittsburgh, and I realize now that the sun does shine there sometimes! I've become nostalgic and proud of my home town. It seems the road always leads back to that steady rock of a place we called home...our Perry & East...Perrysville & Charles...Riverview Park...our Pittsburgh.
School
"Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end...." Our 1969 Perry High Yearbook theme...so true! Those were intense times...times of friendships and activities we'll never forget, as vivid as if they were yesterday...teachers we loved and hated...Weird Harold/Weird Harriet Day...Isaly's...Perry Pizza...The Wall...The Log...toilet paper strewn Perry & East Streets when we won the games...THOSE WERE the days, my f...Expand for more
riend. We thought they'd never end, but they did... yet they live on as vivid, if not more clear and vibrant, than today's reality. NO WAY will our Perry memories ever end. Just read the posted messages on Classmates if you haven't already. It's amazing how similar our memories are, how special was that place and time, how little we forget of those four years that was high school. What other time in our lives has been or ever will be that unforgettable?!
College
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" and there was a lot happening then that we WANTED to end... the fighting and lives lost in Vietnam, including some we knew and loved ...it was a time of anti-war demonstrations, anti-war marches and college president's office sit-ins. It was a time of hippies, free love, cheap drugs, psychedelic parties and events, be-ins, creativity, freedom, politics. Woodstock.
I loved college! Freedom, change, moving away from home...hanging out and partying with intelligent, interesting, open-minded people, new and awesome music, theater, travels to Baltimore, NYC, Boston, Cape Cod...the world was our oyster :) Unfortunately, I've lost touch with most of the people I knew then....it would be great to reconnect with them...Jeff, Everett, Mike and Mike, Merc, Fred, Bonnie, Jane, Lee...KC....William, Kerri, sadly it's been so long...where are they now?!
