Sue's Story
Life
Ken and I just celebrated 37 years of marriage. How about that! That Central girl and that Madison boy are still together. I'll explain that later. We have one daughter who is happily divorced, and we have no grandchildren. We live in Villa Hills, just south of Cincinnati and are looking for a winter home down south. Any ideas?
We still like to do the same things, together. We love to travel, have a nice dinner out, go to festivals(many right here), read and talk about books and music, party with friends, or just be together.
We stay in touch with what's going on in Richmond through relatives and through EKU activities. It will be difficult to catch up with all of my classmates in one weekend, but I'll try.
School
I loved school! I never worried about "fitting in" because that wasn't important to me. The most important thing to me was having fun. My favorite teacher was Sylvia Tracy Powell. She was a model of the teacher I wanted to be. I hope I did that for my students. We got lots of "hands on" training and "real life" experiences. One thing I remem...Expand for more
ber was picking faculty names during Teacher Appreciation Week. I was in a foods class, and we had to find out a favorite dessert of the person whose name we drew. I got Mr. J.B. Moore's name and baked him a chocolate cake. He always liked me after that.
My biggest crush(s)even my best high school friends don't know. Aren't secrets fun?
I really look forward to seeing everyone in October. We will all have changed since we are all older. The funny thing is that we probably still are the same in spirit.
Workplace
I began my career as a teacher with five preparations in five different classes. I moved from there to being department chair, portfolio queen (white hair for that),site based counsel member, and eventually to secondary high school curriculum consultant. I was lucky to work with some wonderful people, but especially some great students. I also worked at NKU as an adjunct speech teacher for 14 1/2 years. Now, I'm working with Prentice Hall Book Company. I don't see total retirement in the near future. I may switch to volunteer work if my taxes keep going up.
