Susan's Story

It doesn't seem like that long and when I look in the mirror these days I have no idea who that lady is that is looking back ! It is great to hear from so many of the Essex Junction High School Class of 1979. I moved away from there before High School, but kept in touch with a few folks - Suzanne Jackman ended up being my roommate out here in Colorado...and was still one of my best friend right up to her death in 1997. During High School I attended Skyline High when it first opened for less then a semester and transferred back to Longmont High. After High School I was still as scattered as I was during school for quite some time. Tried living in Longmont, Loveland, Boulder, Denver, Englewood, then off to Carrollton Georgia (WOW was that a bad decision!) and then made it back to Colorado. Dee. I have two beautiful daughters- Katelyn and Madelyn and three bonus kiddos. I love having the new title of “Nana” with my grandkids. I finally started college in 2000 and have completed 2 Associates degrees, a Bachelor degree and two Master’s degrees. I never thought I would go to college so this has surprised even me! I changed careers a few times, from Automotive tech to , parts and Service Director to the City and County of Denver (a few positions there as I was able to move around) and finally a Trainer at a Blue Cross Blue Shield organization-my favorite! Jeanne Mikkelson Brown remained my best friend until her passing in 2023 -I miss my chosen sister! Love to hear from classmates. Email me at SSmithiowa“at” gmail.com.
