Sue's Story
Hi Reseda High Graduating Class of Winter ‘68: looking forward to seeing many of you at our 50th reunion! I’m told by Linda it’s in October sometime and somewhere in Simi Valley. Just signed up on Classmates and was hoping to get that info here, but ran into this distractor. If anyone sees this update and also remembers Kathy Navran and me, please contact us on Facebook, I Messenger since I’m not allowed to leave an email address here. I graduated from CSUN in June, 72 and promptly got married to Rick Thorne. Many of you met tall, dark handsome Rick at the 10 year reunion. We had 3 amazing kids-2 daughters and a son. Both daughters have two kids each, but I am grandma Susie to 9 grandkids, 5 of which are from my extraordinarily dapper and dandy wonderful current husband, John’s, side of the family. I’ve been living in Tucson,AZ since 1979, one year short of 40 Years, which may be the reason I fell off the radar. Also name mix up as well, I think. I finished my Masters in Education at the UNiversity of AZ, tutored and taught in Middle Schools till public school education started getting sliced and diced. unwarranted tax cuts to public education that teachers in AZ, OK, KY and elsewhere struck or threatened to this year. I have been very active in citizens’ Initiative drives to get rid of the dark money elected legislators in AZ who keep cutting our public school funding. We need to create a separate public funding source that our current governor and his gang can’t divert to corporate tax giveaways. I helped get the public school funding proposition on the November ballot. So hoping that our Outlaw Dirty Money proposition which I also collected signatures for gets past all the court challenges from the big spenders too. Well, so 28 years ago I retrained to Medical, never had another layoff, and retired in 2016. My hobbies are reading nonfiction, current events and historical fiction, gardening ( although Climate Change has made that a lot harder, sailing and teaching the grandkids how to sail. (Leaving in just a few days with my eldest daughter and her kids for 5 days and evenings on the boat up in Lake Roosevelt.). Love and care for our animal rescues and babysitting grandkids as well as Tucson cultural events help make retirement great fun!
