Sue's Story

Life Greetings to my Winona Senior High classmates! I hope all of you are as thrilled with celebrating your 40th birthday this year as I am!!! I live in the Ozarks - south western Missouri, only two counties above Arkansas and in the heart of Civil War history. I feel so at home down here that I'm almost ready to hang that confederate flag outside on my front porch! The problem being, I still have that Minnesota accent, and if I talk too fast, I get a lot of blank looks from the "hills" people here. I HAVE learned to say "Missourahhh", tho. I still fly for Northwest Airlines out of MSP - over 27 years now and I love it more than ever. I mainly fly Hononlulu trips, for which I am eternally grateful. Who wouldn't love it, right? I am divorced. I gave it the old high school try.....9 months to be exact.I should have known it wouldn't last, as everyone at the small reception (including the groom) was glued to the TV watching OJ going down the freeway! But we remain very good friends. He takes care of my 4 kids when I come to Minneapolis to fly. My 4 kids have 16 legs and won't ever put the toys back in the toy box. I rescued 4 shih-tzus in the past 10 years. I actually got one through Mary and Steve Strelow. The great thing about these kids is no stretch marks, no drivers' licenses, no college educations and no cooking their meals. In the past 2 years, I...Expand for more
gave in to my restless nature before I settled in Missouri to be with my best girlfriends. I graduated from Gulfstream training in Savannah, Georgia, so that I could fly for private corporations. I moved to Cupertino California, back to Minneapolis and finally home to the Ozarks. And after all of that, decided that I didn't want to travel all over the world any longer for work. So goes my life....DO it first, THINK later. Exceptionally similar to my entire life in high school! I did settle down enough to graduate from from Winona State. I upheld the ancient tradition of the 5 year program for the 4 year degree. I really enjoyed it, tho, and would have liked to have stayed in longer to pay homage to the guys down at Charlies who are probably still working on their 4 year degree! The most important thing is that I am blissfully content. After raising their families, the "girlfriends" now have the time to hang out again. And I have been blessed by having 4 of the best girlfriends in the world - an eccentric bunch, but they are the ones who are my family. I sincerely hope that all of you have been able to find your niche in the world and that you have found immense joy and satisfaction in your family and friends....'cause that is what matters most as we make our way through another passage. I would love to hear about your lives sometime. E-mail! Suzi Pettit
