Susan's Story
I live outside of Las Vegas, NV on Hwy. 165 east of Nelson. I've been married to Tony Werly for 40years now. We have 5 grown children and 10 grandchildren. We own a canoe/kayak rental and we do goldmine tours into an 1861 goldmine. It's beautiful here. We own a canyon so we don't have any neighbors. Our business is open 7 days a week so we stay busy. We've recently bought 3 more gold mines and are getting one of them ready for a High Adventure mine tour. They'll have to be in shape to do this tour. There's no lights so will have a light on your hard hat plus carry a flashlight. You have to be able to slide down a chute to get in, climb 12 foot ladders up and down, crawl and then climb the equivalent of a ten story building to get out. It's awesome!! The main room we go into is the size of a football field and it's been mined out to be that size. Our business name is Eldorado Canyon Mine Tours but I need to redo my website to now include the new tour into the Crown- Queen mine. The mine we go into already is the Techatticup Mine and you can google that. If you Google Image Eldorado Canyon, NV; Nelson, NV or Nelson's Landing, NV most of the pictures are taken here.
Come see me when you come to Vegas. I'm about 45 to 50 minutes SE of there. If you want to see pictures of where I live my daughter started a Facebook page called Eldorado Canyon. It'll show it as a busine...Expand for more
ss in Nevada. Click that. It's kept up to date with what's going on here.
On that Facebook page you can see pictures of my place and people can add their own pics they took here also.
Workplace
I've owned and run a canoe/ kayak and jet ski business since 1977. My husband Tony and I started it in 1977 in Las Vegas, NV. We moved it up to Boulder City in 1981. In 1994 we bought two historical goldmines 25 miles south of Boulder City on Hwy. 165. We have 51 acres and own this little canyon 5 miles up from the Colorado River. We do mine tours and rent canoes and kayaks. They film a lot of movies, music videos, commercials, etc. here. It's really interesting and fun. We were running two companies but closed the Boulder City one and now do everything here in the canyon. We have alot of buildings we've restored and the history here is fabulous! Senator George Hearst, William Randolph Hearst's dad bought one of our mines in 1863 and was claim jumped in 1874. It's fun. We've just been trying to save the history here and restore the buildings. Our mine tours are interesting and we do most of the elementary schools in the Vegas Valley for their Nevada history. We have 3 barns and a country store too. There is twenty something buildings here. We actually live in a restored house across the street from the store. I LOVE it! Definately a great life. I've been dealing with tourists for 34 years.
