Susan's Story
While most of you probably have grandkids already, I've got four teens (13-19), four cats, a dog, four fish, a husband and a full-time job (as of 2011). That doesn't leave much time for anything other than serving as a chef, maid and taxi service to soccer & basketball games, tae kwon do, gymnastics and a variety of social events (theirs, not ours!), but thankfully one is driving and another has a permit, so things will soon ease up a bit. Then I just get to worry ...
After getting sick in '71 and leaving school, I worked a couple of years and did a year at NoVa Community College. Then I spent a decade in Richmond, during which I earned a BFA in interior design, of all things, from VCU ... did that a couple of years and hated it, then worked incredibly long hours for dirt pay as a display trimmer in ...Expand for more
a department store. Also got married and divorced ... Lucked into a writing/graphics job in '85 with the federal government so I moved back to Alexandria and have worked for the taxpayer since. In another odd turn-about, I am currently a program manager in a women's business development program. Who'da thunk?
I married a great guy, Len Slobodin, in 1990 and we've adopted four amazing kids from here, China and Vietnam. Really tired but happy, and yeah, still crazy after all these years (probably getting crazier by the day ...). Contemplating retiring (now, there's a scary word!) to New England or upstate New York where they have more snow and less traffic (not to mention fewer conservatives and self-important pols).
I don't check here often, but hey, if you knew me when, feel free to leave a message.
