Susan's Story

My memories of Hardaway High are so special. My freshman and sophomore years I was in Glee Club and Pep Club. I was extremely shy but these clubs helped bring out my personality. My favorite class was Algebra (can you believe it!). Mr. Cruz. This class was more of a let's see who could cut up more! So much fun. I have three brothers, two older, one younger. Two of the three graduated from Hardaway. Steve and Mike. Keith graduated from Jordan (but we won't hold that against him). I have a younger sister, Angie who also graduated from Jordan. After graduation I got married (way, way too young) to a fellow Hardaway Hawk! This was during the draft for Vietnam. His draft number was "2" so he decided to enlist into the Marine Corps. After his boot camp, etc, and we moved to Beuford, South Carolina for 2 years. Loved it! After this we moved back to Columbus and I started my job career with several attorneys. This is where I learned my trade of transcription. I used to transcribe depositions for Bill Ary and Norwood Pierce. I moved around with several other attorneys firms for a few years, then moved to Hughston Sports Medicine...Expand for more
Hospital where I became the hospital's main medical transcriptionist. Went to school and got my credentials in this field and I can say I have now 30 years under my belt with medical transcription. I still love it. I have two children, both of whom I am very proud of, Jason and Tara. Jason has his own church as a pastor and Tara is in real estate. I also have three little grandboys and two little step-grandgirls. We are living in Orlando, Florida, been here for about 14 years. It is fun but I miss home (Columbus). My husband is in law enforcement for Orange County for which I pray each time he leaves for work to come back safely. Crime is really getting bad here (I guess everywhere now). I lost my dad to Alzheimer's a few years back. He was the city treasurer of Columbus for over 30 some odd years. Mom is doing great, a super artist! Amazing work she does. So proud of her. Steve has his own company in Cols, T&S Machinery, Mike has just retired from police work himself, in Atlanta. Keith is big man at Trackmobile in LaGrange and sweet Angie is at Columbus Water Works making people laugh and be happy! And my story continues...
