Susan's Story
Life
After graduation from Temple U. I became the only one of six
women to graduate in the 69th graduating class at the PA State
police Academy. Worked in traffic, then undercover/vice operations. Married Mark in 1991. Became a nurse after going back to college yet again. Live in Indiana since 1994. Work in the home health industry in clinical management. Speak Russian quite well. Adopted two brothers ages 4 and 9 from Siberia, Russia in 8/2000. Searched for their older sister who was "lost" in the orphanage system over there, with the help of Russian friends. Found her after 1 1/2 yr. search and adopted her at age 13 in 12/2002. Oksana is now 15, Yevdokim "John" is almost 14, and Vasya just turned 9. Have had a great and fulfilling life so far with many exciting experiences to boot. time to work with the ill kids in the orphanages over there. Mark and I have hosted numerous foreign exchange students over the years, including 3 boys, one from Ukraine, one from Poland, and one from East Germany. Also one girl, from West Germany. All of them continue to keep in touch with us. Our kids also get to keep up with their Russian through phone calls and visits with Russian friends. All three of our kids have thrived here in the US and we are very proud of them and the obstacles they had to overcome to make and fit into a new family and culture. Oksana is modelling already for the largest agency in Indianapolis. John is very outgoing and into sports. Vasya is our little comedienne and a future actor we think! We just moved into a new home and we are enjoying more space to romp around the house with our Yellow
Lab, Anya and our German Shephard/Chow mix, Bessie.
