Susan's Story

I hope my friends remember me as a kind, trustworthy and caring person. Not afraid to take challenges and never quit. I have to say I've quite a few challenges. I wasn't sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. I did know I wanted to be a mom some day. I've been blessed with two Children, A boy Named Casey and A girl named Samantha. I am married to a deaf man Named Curtis who is kind and has ever said a negative sentence or word to me. We have been married for 20 years this Sept 30. He always calls me beautiful even when I look like something the cat just dragged in. Curt was born with nerve damage to his ears and lost his hearing as he grew up. So I wasn't surprised when my daughter was born with nerve damage too and is deaf as well. Both speak very well. My daughter signs ASL and ESL. My husband lip reads. My son Casey was born with petite malls, turrets and sever asthma. He has been bless and has out grown most of it. Life has been quit a journey for us. I had a huge surprise in 2006 and have been battling cancer. I'm in remission now. I am excited that I'll be able to work on my garden this year. I find gardening my favorite way to relax .I will need to build me some new steps on the hill so I can get to the top. I've always liked challenges. One of my challenges in High School was to play soccer. I love soccer. I would run miles around Fairfield High with the soccer ball and play soccer in the summer with the Armijo team. Unfortunately we didn't have a girls soccer league back then, so I had to try out for the boys team. Our junior Coach didn't like the idea of a girl on the team but Coach Daily was great. Bart Santiago was my mentor and best mate and He would show me tricks with the ball when traveling .He was quite a showman with the ball. All his brothers were naturally fantastic in soccer. He was the one who talked me into trying out for the team. He would work with me after school and on weekends. Bart Santiago was one of my brothers, (Chris Inman) best friend. They had a group called the Clan. It consisted of Bart, Mike Love (my boyfriend) John Goss, Harry Peasley. Bart was a blast. He could charm anyone. While I was in school I did sports. Cross country for a short while. Swimming before school. track, and soccer. I held 3 jobs .I also had a horse named Babe that I kept at the Saddle Club. Every day I had to feed, shovel the stall, train and exercise him after school and when soccer or track practice was over. Jeeze I wish I was young again.. I ended up working at Ocean Engineering. I was blessed to land that job. I first worked with Westinghouse then the Navy. It was blast to work there. I learned to scuba dive by Navy Seals. They make wonderful dive buddies. I went on awesome dives. Cave diving, wreck diving, night diving. I dove with seals in Monterey and barracudas and hammerhead sharks in Mexico. I was so mesmerized when I saw a barracuda going after a fish. ...Expand for more
I fed eels and sting rays. It was wild getting to pet them. When You feed them you have to keep your hand flat like if you were feeding a horse or they will gnaw your fingers. They don't have teeth but they have strong jaws. Everyone has a Hero when they were young. My brother Chris was mine. He was a charmer and well liked by most. I followed him around like a puppy dog. I cant say he was the best influence but he is still a hard worker. I don't know how he does it. He did a lot of goofing off when we were in High School. Now were grown and he is a great provider for his family and quite a workaholic. When we were in High School we live on Laguna Ct. I had to walk to school everyday. We didn't have backpacks back then. Jeeze..why didn't I ride a bike? My parents divorced, (after 37 yrs of marriage), when us kids moved out, then they then moved to Vacaville and both lived 5 houses down from each other.???? When I look back on High School I often wonder what happen to some of those people I knew. Bart Santiago passed away from an unfortunate accident. I don't know where John Goss is. Did he marry his high school girl friend? Harry Peasley is still my brothers best friend and they talk every day. Mike Love disappeared, but I heard he's happy. I still talk and hang out with my best friend that I've know since I was 12 Janet (Simmonds) Parker. I softer wonder what happened to Karen Brown. I still see my horse back ridding buddies Lisa Colbert at the High School where I volunteer every day. My life is filled with my kids and pets. I have 2 dogs. One is a rescue dog from Mexico that UC Davis vets brought back. They can only bring back 3. His name is Franky. He is a black and white mix of border collie and terrier. Annie is our 9 lb Snoodle. I have 3 cats and 3 strays that adopted us. Three birds, A blue fronted Amazon named Barney and 2 cockatiels, Sunshine and Daisy. Needless to say we have a full house .I keep busy gardening and going RVing when weather permits. We went to the Ocean for 5 days. It was right on the beach at Bodega Bay. When we are at home we do a lot remodeling. So far we have done the Kitchen with Uba Tuba granite for counters and Hard would floors threw out the house. We put new trim and Granite on the Fire place. The stairs are now hard would as well. I hope some day to finish our Master bath. I keep changing my mind on what the floor should be. First it was white tile and now its bamboo. I have a feeling that not going to work. I wish some day to redo our Master bedroom. I would love to put french door where the bay window are. Right now I'm happy just to keep the down stair tidy. Right now living healthy is my priority. My life changed when I gave birth to my kids. It was like a window opened and I finically understood everything my parents every said to me. I understand their fears when I was not home on time. My kids have opened up my eyes. I get it now
