Susan's Story
Let's see, I'm having trouble believing I've gotten so old! I remember when my mother went to her 30th high school reunion...she seemed OLD! Enough about that...50 is the new 30, right? After high school, I got a BSN at Western CT. I moved to FL to do some travel nursing jobs and never left the state. I married a man who can not tolerate temps below 80, so I haven't much hope of moving back to New England. I still get Yankee Magazine ( although I liked it better before they changed it ) and turn down my AC so I can have a fire in the fireplace. Jeff and I just celebrated our 25th anniversary. We have two kids, a 17 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. My husband just started his second career in firefighting after 27 years in the city of Largo. He now works as a ff/paramedic in Longboat Key. We spend a lot of time in and on the water. Jeff and the kids do the extreme sports...skiing and wake boarding, I bring the snacks! ht now and hope to have it back in the water for fall sailing. My nursing career has assumed many forms over the last 28 years. I got a graduate degree in Counseling and taught diabetics how to live well with a chronic illness. That was very rewarding. I've done nursing administration, home care, many different hospital roles and now work PRN for Hospice. My own family has kept me busy this year. My mom has a cardiac condition and has continuous IVs and my son had brain surgery in April. He has had a terrific recovery, no malignancy, and was just released to full activity last week. He immediately spent a week at water ski camp and we couldn't be more grateful for that! Our daughter just made a demo CD in Nashville and we are heading to Jacksonville so she can try out for American Idol. Well, that's our lives in a nutshell. Is the class of '75 ever going to get together again? ( or have you been doing so and not telling me? ) Would love to hear how others are doing. Sue
